Easter Dresses

Monogram from Martha Pullen Internet Embroidery Club
Our granddaughter, Bonnie, was so excited to get her dress in the mail that she had to have a picture taken right then.

Mail to West Africa is such a risky situation.  Praise the Lord that the package made it there.  I couldn't believe that it fit that well.

It is such a pleasure to see a smile like this on such a beautiful little face.  It makes all the time at the machine worth every minute!

I started this project in plenty of time to get it finished.  But, again, I didn't get it done in time.  I wanted to make special dresses for the four beautiful granddaughters.  I am still working on the last two.  Here are the pictures of the first one that was mailed to Africa.  They haven't gotten the package yet, but it should only be a few more days.  (I posted picture above about three weeks later than this.)

Here are two more of my granddaughters in their dresses.  I took their dresses to Canada on our visit this month.  What a joy to visit with them.

The Finished Project at the House

Our house has been in progress for years.  Seldom to we have a "finished" project.  This project is complete at the present.  Of course, we do have the next project in mind, but it is finished right now.  I like the shade around the house.  It is a little darker inside now, but I think during the summer it will be much cooler.

Easter weekend

Church services were wonderful for Easter Sunday.  I teach a class of 3-4 grade girls.  Every Sunday we have tea while we study God's Word.  This Sunday we were teaching about the Resurrection of Jesus.  It is a shame that children think Easter is only about eggs, bunnies, and hunting eggs.
The girls enjoy the time of fellowship and tea.
We are starting a new project for class this week.
If they learn the Books of the Old Testament they will receive a charm for their charm bracelet.  Other things they are memorizing are:  New Testament Books, 12 Tribes, 12 Apostles,  the Judges, 10 Commandments, and the Kings.  We will add more as we go along.

The girls seem to have a great time, and so do I.

Purple Splash Roses

Last summer Nannie and I went to a nursery to see some new plants and purchase a few old favorites.  While we were there we saw this climbing rose, "Purple Splash".  I loved it.  I couldn't believe it when they said they only had one of its kind.  I am sure that means that they really didn't like the outcome and didn't propagate more.  What ever the reason we bought the rose and brought it home.  My hero, Buster, always knows when something is particularly special to me.  He figures out a way to make it more special.  He built a wire cage for the rose to grow inside.

My grandson, Gilbert, helped me plant it.  The other grandson, Danny, kept special watch to make sure that it was watered.  I can still hear them tell me that there is a new bud on the rose bush.

This summer it is grand.  I can't believe it is so pretty.  To others it might not be, but to me it is wonderful.  Oh, it it isn't the cutting kind, it won't make a flower arrangement, but it is so pretty.

It reminds me that I am loved.  Nannie purchasing it for me,  My Hero built a climbing cage for me, and my grandsons watching it grow for me all make me realize just how good God is to me every day.

More remodeling the outside of the house

putting up the breeze way
Making sure it is level
We have wanted to add a cover around the edge of the house for many years.  It will protect our logs from rain and the hot sunshine.  We had time to do it right now.  Buster has been thinking about what exactly he  wanted.  The other day itcame to him that we could use a breeze way to the car port (which we do not have yet).  The breeze way would set the style and the other part would be able to fit into it easier.

back of the house
The awning like addition will help keep the house cooler too.  We are very glad to get this done before it gets very hot this summer.  Our logs are holding up well, but they do need a little protection.
